U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) has endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles’ (R-TN-05) reelection bid for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
“I’m pleased to endorse my friend and fellow Tennessean, Andy Ogles, for re-election,” Hagerty said in a statement obtained by The Tennessee Star. “Andy has demonstrated that he is a fearless fighter for freedom, and his commitment to securing our border and protecting our national security is nearly unparalleled.”
Hagerty went on to commend Ogles’ work on the House Financial Services Committee, specifically his work to “increase government transparency in the financial sector” and advocating for “increased security measures to combat foreign threats.”
“He truly represents the values of Middle Tennessee in Washington, and I’m pleased to endorse Andy Ogles for re-election in the 5th Congressional District,” Hagerty added.
Ogles responded to Hagerty’s endorsement, saying he was “thankful” for the senator’s “mentorship.”
“I’m thankful for the example of Senator Hagerty and his mentorship. It’s truly a blessing to have such great representation for Tennessee up in Washington,” Ogles said. “Senator Hagerty always puts Tennessee and America first in the fight against Washington special interests. I am honored and humbled to have his endorsement.”
Hagerty’s endorsement comes weeks after his colleagues in the U.S. Senate, senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) also threw their support behind Ogles, as previously reported by The Star.
The Tennessee congressman has also been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
Ogles has served as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023 and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022.
